Enhanced near-infrared reflectance and functional characteristics of nano metal oxide embedded alkyd coatings

Abstract The main idea of the research is to formulate alkyd based smart coatings with high NIR-reflectance decrease cooling load in order maintain cool comfort buildings. In addition NIR reflectance studies, physical characteristics coating such as glossiness, hiding power, spreading area, volatile organic contents are evaluated. Heat reflective prepared by ball milling technique utilizing white metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) titanium (TiO 2 ), zinc (ZnO) and zirconium (ZrO ) pigments. x-ray Diffraction (XRD) Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) results reveal pigments purity. Bonding interaction between resin NPs studied using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).The spectral measured spectrophotometer solar spectrum range, wherein ZnO nanocoatings shows better results. for an enclosed glass cabinet differences temperature respect exposure sunlight highlighted. Finally, a prototype coated maintains lower indoor than commercially available paint model 2.7 °C.
